I.        Upgradation of School of Nursing to college of nursing is kept in abeyance in order to meet the demand of nurses and under the National Rural health mission.   However if, the institution is willing to upgrade, INC will consider their proposals. (Guidelines for upgradation of School of Nursing to College of Nursing is placed Under Annexure-I)

II.      Maximum period for students to complete revised ANM and GNM course is 3 and 6 years respectively

III.     Indian Nursing Council resolved that maximum age for teaching faculty is 70 years subject to the condition that he/she should be physically and mentally fit.

IV.      Dr. MGR Medical University nursing qualification viz., B.Sc/M.Sc i.e., UG/PG degrees qualification recognized since 1990 onwards instead of 29th July 2000 under section 10 of the INC Act, 1947, as required by sub-section (1) of Section 15 of the said act that the qualification shall be recognized as higher qualification for the purpose of the Act

 V.      Admission to married candidates for all the nursing programmes allowed subject to the condition that they should produce medical fitness certificate.

VI.      Relaxation of Norms to establish M.Sc(N) programme: As per the INC norm, only those institution can start M.Sc(N) program where in the atleast one batch of students has qualified B.Sc(N) programme.  INC resolved apart from these institutions the super speciality hospitals can also open the M.Sc(N) programme even though the institution is not having B.Sc(N) programme.

 VII.    Relaxation of student patient ratio for clinical practice: 1:3 student patient ratio instead of 1:5 student patient ratio

VIII.a Relaxation of teaching faculty qualification to start a B.Sc(N) programme.  Atleast 2 M.Sc(N) qualified teaching faculty to be available to sart B.ScN) programme for the next 5 years in order to combat acute shortage of Nursing & Teacher till the position of M.Sc(N) qualified teaching faculty improves.  

  (b)  Teaching faculty who have worked in previous [one] institution for one full year will be considered as full time teaching faculty in the present institute i.e. teaching faculty moving from one institute to another very frequently will not be considered.

IX.     To maintain quality of post graduate in nursing INC resolved not to have M.Sc(N) programme through distance education.

X.       INC to become a member of International Council of Nurses which is an International organization which takes up the interest of nurses in terms of education, standards, socio-economic conditions etc., at the international forum.

XI.      Recognition of GNM qualification granted by Delhi Nursing Council under Section 10(2) of INC Act 1947.

(a)
. ANM/GNM/B.Sc. (N)/P.B.B.Sc. (N)/M.Sc. (N) has to pass both internal candidate and external examination separately in each of the paper.

(b)  Minimum pass marks shall be 50% in each of the theory and practical papers separately. 

XIII.
(a
) Maximum number of 60 seats can be sanctioned to those institutions which are having less than 500 bedded Parent / affiliated hospital, provided that they are having physical and teaching facilities as per Indian Nursing Council norms.

 

   (b)   Maximum number of 100 seats can be sanctioned to those institutions which are having 500 bedded Parent Hospital/Parent Medical College, provided that they have Physical and Teaching facilities as per Indian Nursing Council norms.

XV.     DMLT is not a nursing programme and hence students with DMLT qualification should not be admitted in GNM/B.Sc (N) programme.  

XVI.    Institution should have its own (School/College & hostel) building within 2 years of establishment.

XVIII. Stay of students in the hostel: Provision of having hostel accommodation is compulsory for the institution. However, Principal has the discretion to decide about the student’s stay in the hostel or be made as day scholar. 

XIV.    Registration of Additional qualification.

          State Nursing Registration Council should register additional qualification like P.B. B.Sc. (N), M.Sc. (N), One year speciality course prescribed by Indian Nursing Council etc. The original Registration Number will remain the same.  Only the additional qualification will be added.
